Effective Radon Mitigation in Carey

What You Need to Know About Radon Testing

Our quick and convenient scheduling ensures you can promptly set an appointment for radon testing at a time that works for you. Here, we install a continuous radon detector to collect data and plan another meeting to review the findings. During that time, they will print the radon test results and discuss them with you.

Steps to Take If Your Home Has High Radon Levels

If radon levels in your home are higher than 4 pCi/L (picocuries per liter), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends you seek radon reduction solutions. That is where Idaho Radon can help! We will custom design a radon mitigation system personalized to your unique situation:

  1. Depressurizing the soil beneath the structure prevents radon gas from moving through the house, addressing the stack effect or natural movement of air/radon in your home.
  2. We create a suction point(s) by drilling into the concrete foundation slab, basement floor, or surrounding earth. Then we connect a PVC pipe.
  3. Gas is vented through a pipe running through a fan in the attic or along the top of the home, expelling radon outside.
  4. Using a urethane caulking compound, our specialists seal all radon entry points, such as cracks, gaps, and openings.
  5. A final system analysis is performed to examine the fan and other key system details to ensure equipment performs correctly.
  6. We schedule a radon test within 30 days of the system installation, making sure the system is working.

Job Stories From Carey, ID
Basement & Additional Open Dirt Encapsulation

When approached for this house to remediate their radon levels, we were informed it was just a basement.  Utilizing pictures provided in the real estate listing, Idaho Radon was able to provide a quote for a simple sub slab depressurization system.

When we arrived though, a significant square footage area of 200 sq ft in the basement was actually open dirt.  We informed the client this area would need to be sealed.  We placed down our standard 6mil radon barrier and encapsulated the area.

It's always important to know if there are two different floor foundation types (slab, crawl space, open dirt, basement) to determine the scope of the job.  Pictures & drawings by the client are great when the job is located out of our typical service area.
